Rajendra Prasad, a veteran actor, is in fire again for using a swear term to refer to Brahmanandam as an old man at the Sahakutumbaanaam trailer premiere. Fans have turned to social media to criticize the actor's speech, with some likening him to Balakrishna. This is what occurred.

During the launch of the trailer of Akhanda 2, Rajendra Prasad was asked to deliver a speech after Brahmanandam. He said, “Someone like me speaking after Padma Shri Dr Brahmanandam spoke…” The veteran comedian interrupted him and said, “What do you mean? I am your disciple even if I’m older than you.” Rajendra Prasad turned to him and said, “Kaani musali m***da koduku vi kada nuvvu. (But you are an old man).” When Brahmanandam looked surprised and asked, “Evaru? (Who?)” he backtracked and replied, “I’m talking about me.”

Netizens slam the actor

The internet was not impressed when Rajendra Prasad used a swear word, even in humor, to describe Brahmanandam. One X (previously Twitter) user shared the video, stating, "It's high time for industry people to politely ask him not to come to public events." Someone else wrote: "On disciplinary grounds, movie offers should be withdrawn."

One even claimed, "Every time Rajendra Prasad speaks on a public stage, it feels like Balayya has entered him," alluding to how Balakrishna gets in problems for his behaviour. Some even suggested that he be boycotted, with one adding, "Industry should boycott."

However, Rajendra Prasad's admirers defended him, with one tweeting, "It's not that bad, a friend calling another 'old bastard' isn't that terrible in Godavari districts." "A little inappropriate for the stage, but I've seen much worse."

Calling out those who were insulting the actor, one X user begged for sensitivity, adding, "Rajendra Prasad garu's daughter died recently. He may still be healing from the trauma. Let us treat him like we would treat our grandfather. Others reminded out that his daughter Gayathri died in 2024, thus it's not appropriate to tease him.

On the work front

Brahmanandam has portrayed humorous parts in a number of Rajendra Prasad-directed films, including Aha Naa Pellanta, Antha Mana Manchike, Kshemamga Velli Labhamga Randi, and many others. However, this is not the first time the actor has been in controversy for his statements. In March of this year, he issued an apology for using similar terms to describe David Warner.
