At the press conference, he clarified that his absence from promotions isn’t due to arrogance, but because he feels shy and awkward discussing his own films
Pawan Kalyan
One of the Tollywood celebrities who is well-known for not advertising his next movies in person or on social media is actor-politician Pawan Kalyan. Even the actor acknowledges that he can't recall the last time he spoke to the media to promote a movie. Speaking at a news conference for Hari Hara Veera Mallu (HHVM), which is rarely hosted in Hyderabad, Pawan reassured the audience that it is not the result of "arrogance."
Why Pawan doesn't promote his films?
Pawan got candid about the reason why he doesn't promote his films. He said, “It feels a little odd to talk without a podium. I can’t remember the last time I promoted a film with the press. I feel shy about beating my own drum and talking about my films. It’s not out of arrogance; I just don’t know what to say. But I decided to speak about this film today for (producer) AM Rathnam garu."
Additionally, Pawan referred to himself as an "accidental actor" and said that he became accustomed to not promoting movies because, at the beginning of his career, his media and producers thought he was not "sellable." He said, "When they asked me to dance on a bus in Suswaghatam, I thought I would die. I told my sister-in-law (brother Chiranjeevi’s wife Surekha) I can’t act anymore. When I began my career, I was called unsellable. Magazines wouldn’t even publish my photos. So, I got used to not taking part in publicity for my films."
The actor-politician was blunt when he said that although he may be well-known in politics and as a national figure, he is not on par with his industry peers. "If a film is good, you don't need to talk about it," he added, adding that he isn't "talkative" unless it's about politics. You don't have to do anything if it's awful.
