Haneef was admitted to a private hospital in Ernakulam for the past week. The actor, who has largely contributed to Malayalam cinema, is highly known for his part in the highly acclaimed slapstick comedy film, 'Ee Parakkum Thalika'. Haneef, who has worked in more than 110 films, is survived by his wife and their two children Shahrukh and Sitara.

The actor was born in Mattanchery, Ernakulam, to parents Hamaza and Zubaida. Haneef was always interested in mimicry. At a very early stage in his life, he started doing mimicry, and later he became a part of a theatre. Later, he joined a professional mimicry troupe, Kalabhavan, which was a huge milestone in his career. Haneef has also followed the practice of Kalabhavan alumni by retaining the organization's name to his screen name.

The actor worked with Nedumodi Venu and Raghvan, but it was when he took a tour with a troupe for stage programs that made him gain popularity. Shortly after he ventured into movies, Haneef started doing supporting roles in movies. Although all of his roles were loved by his fans, Haneef's character in 'Ee Parakkum Thalika' remained fans' favourite. The actor's Popular movies include 'Thenkasipattanam', 'Pandippada', 'Chotta Mumbai', 'Ustad Hotel', 'Maharaja Talkies', and 'Drishyam', among others.

Haneef was not only a movie star but a recognizable face for the television audience. His roles in 'Minnuketty' and 'Nadhaswaram' made him a household name. He has been part of shows like 'Abi's Corner', 'Comediyum Mimicsum Pinne Njanum', 'Manassiloru Mazhavillu', and 'Tilana Tilana', among others. Haneef's last film was 'Jaladhara Pumpset Since 1962', which was released in August 2023. Minnukettu was a family drama which portrayed the story of a father, his daughters and their struggles.

The actor's untimely demise has sent a shockwave through the entire Malayalam industry. The actor's contribution to the industry will always remain cherished in the hearts of cinema lovers. Our heartiest condolences to the family.
