Baahubali: The Epic, a combined version of both Baahubali films, has recorded a staggering Rs 10 crore in advance sales ahead of its October 31 release. The re-release marks the highest-ever pre-sales for an Indian film, reigniting fans’ love for the legendary franchise'
Still from Baahubali
SS Rajamouli's Baahubali – The Beginning created an unprecedented wave in Indian cinema back in 2015. The film’s word-of-mouth popularity spread rapidly across the country, with audiences fixated on one question- “Kattappa ne Baahubali ko kyu maara?” The answer arrived in 2017 with Baahubali – The Conclusion, a film that shattered all box office records in India. A decade later, the makers have combined both films to create one epic version with a runtime of 3 hours and 45 minutes. Judging by the early box office numbers, it seems fans are still not over the Baahubali phenomenon.
Baahubali: The Epic advance sales
The Prabhas and Anushka Shetty-starrer has registered impressive advance bookings- reportedly the highest ever for a re-release. The film has earned over Rs 10 crore worldwide in pre-sales, surpassing the advance numbers of Vijay’s Ghilli re-release and Mahesh Babu’s Khaleja.
Titled Baahubali: The Epic, the re-release has recorded the highest opening for an Indian film re-release, earning Rs 5 crore in India through pre-sales and another Rs 5 crore in North America. It has also become the first Telugu re-release to cross the Rs 10 crore mark worldwide on opening day. The film is expected to set new records for re-releases.
Currently, Harshvardhan Rane’s Sanam Teri Kasam holds the record for the highest box office collection from a re-release, earning Rs 41 crore earlier this year. Down South, films like Ghilli, Gabbar Singh, and Khaleja also saw impressive opening-day numbers — Ghilli earned between Rs 8–10 crore, Pawan Kalyan’s Gabbar Singh earned Rs 8 crore, and Mahesh Babu’s Khaleja made Rs 6.85 crore.
