Rajinikanth’s stardom is truly unparalleled. His impact on fans has once again come to the spotlight, after a video of a devoted fan from Madurai surfaced online. The fan chose an extraordinary and rather unusual way to celebrate the festival of Pongal with his devotion to Thalaiva. The videos and details from the celebration quickly went viral.

ANI shared the video on X (formerly Twitter) and explained the unique celebration in detail. The caption read, “A die-hard Rajinikanth fan from Madurai, Karthik, celebrated the Pongal festival in a unique way by offering prayers at a temple he built inside his residence in honour of the superstar." It further stated, "The temple, inaugurated a few years ago, houses a 300-kg idol of Rajinikanth and stands as a symbol of Karthik’s deep devotion to the actor, whom he reveres as a God. Karthik, along with his family members, performed Pongal celebrations and special prayers at the shrine."
The video shared by the portal captured the rituals. In the video, Karthik and his family can be seen preparing prasadam for the puja rituals. Later, they are seen performing milk abhishekam on the massive idol, followed by adorning it with fruit garlands and offering prayers together. The visuals show the depth of reverence that some fans hold for the superstar, especially in Tamil Nadu.

On the work front, the actor is preparing for his upcoming film, tentatively titled Thalaivar 173. Filmmaker Cibi Chakaravarthi has replaced Sundar C. as the director of the film, which is produced by Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International, along with R Mahendran. The collaboration marks the creative reunion of Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth after many years.
Thalaivar 173 is slated for a Pongal 2027 release. Before that, Rajinikanth will be seen in Jailer 2 expected to release in 2026. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Rajinikanth will reprise his popular role as 'Tiger' Muthuvel Pandian, alongside actors such as SJ Suryah, Ramya Krishnan and Mithun Chakraborty.
