The Tamil film Karuppu, starring Suriya and Trisha Krishnan, has found itself at the centre of a controversy after a financier publicly criticised director-actor RJ Balaji over financial losses allegedly linked to the project. The remarks have sparked debate within the Tamil film industry, with the financier claiming he recovered only half of the money he invested in the movie.

Speaking about his experience, the financier alleged that despite putting a substantial amount into the film, he managed to recover only around 50 percent of his investment. Expressing disappointment over the outcome, he questioned the financial management surrounding the project and suggested that investors had been left bearing the burden of the losses.
