Nag Ashwin's Kalki 2898 AD, starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles, has been gearing up for a second instalment. Meanwhile, the film has constantly been in the news owing to its updates. However, things took a controversial turn when the makers of Kalki announced that Deepika would not be a part of the sequel in September 2025. Ever since, there have been multiple reports about which actress will step into the shoes.

Sai Pallavi to replace Deepika Padukone in Kalki 2?

If recent reports are to be believed, the makers of Kalki 2 have allegedly roped in Sai Pallavi to replace Deepika in the sequel. Although there's no official confirmation about the same, the reports have become a topic of discussion on social media, especially Reddit.

An account named The Climax India shared on X (formerly Twitter), "SaiPallavi to replace DeepikaPadukone in the HIGHLY ANTICIPATED Sequel Kalki2! Superstar Prabhas has given dates to Nag Ashwin from Early Feb to Kickstart shoot"

The post was shared on Reddit, Instagram and other platforms. A user on Reddit reacted by saying, "Yayy, Sai gets to be a small part of a movie that pushes aside the epic concept of the story and wastes A LOT of precious screen time on pandering to stupid Prabhas’ fanbase and his ridiculous rebel whatever nonsense! Congratulations!! (sic)."

Another user wrote, "I think they'll bump off DP's character (dies while giving birth to Kalki) and Sai Pallavi gets the task of raising the kid as the warrior who will battle the evil. It's also like how Devaki gave birth, and Yashoda ma raised him, a similar thing here they will write down to let the movie continue and establish that he's Bhagwan Vishnu's 10th avatar (sic)."

Deepika Padukone's exit from Kalki 2

In September 2025,  Vyjayanthi Movies, the production house behind the film, released an official statement on X, stating that they were unable to find a partnership with Deepika Padukone despite working with her for a long time.

The statement read, "This is to officially announce that deepikapadukone will not be a part of the upcoming sequel of #Kalki2898AD. After careful consideration, we have decided to part ways. Despite the long journey of making the first film, we were unable to find a partnership. And a film like @Kalki2898AD deserves that commitment and much more. We wish her the best with her future works (sic)."
