Ramya Krishnan has won plaudits from fans and critics alike for her portrayal as Queen Sivagami in the 'Baahubali' films. However, what many may not know is that she wasn't the first choice for the role.
According to <a href="http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/entertainment/telugu/movies/did-you-know-/heres-why-sridevi-refused-to-do-sivagami-in-baahubali-franchise-ultimately-losing-it-to-ramya-krishna/articleshow/58559265.cms" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">The Times of India</a>, SS Rajamouli who directed the films, 'Baahubali: The Beginning' and <a href="http://www.mid-day.com/search/baahubali-2-the-conclusion-all" target="_blank">'Baahubali: The Conclusion'</a>, the latter, <a href="http://www.mid-day.com/articles/baahubali-2-the-conclusion-rs-1000-crore-box-office-collection-bollywood-news/18229181" target="_blank">which went on the mint over Rs 1,000 crores in the box-office</a>, was reportedly keen on casting Sridevi for the role.
If sources are to be believed, Sridevi couldn't be locked in to portray the character of Sivagami since she demanded a whopping Rs 6 crore for the role. So, the makers chose to cast Ramya Krishnan instead, who garner accolades from fans and crtics.

'Baahubali 2: The Conclusion' scripted history earlier by breaking box-office records and earning over Rs 1,000 crore. The film stars Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Ramya Krishnan, Anushka Shetty, Sathyaraj and Tamannaah Bhatia in prominent roles. <a href="http://www.mid-day.com/articles/bahubali-2-the-conclusion-box-office-collections-prabhas-ss-rajamouli-regional-news/18226183" target="_blank">Director SS Rajamouli recently said that a third film is also on the cards</a>.
With a career spanning over three decades, Ramya Krishnan has acted in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam films. Her big break came in 1999 in the Rajinikanth blockbuster 'Padayappa', where she essayed the chief antagonist, 'Neelambari'. She bagged a Filmfare Award under the Best Actress category for her performance.

Sridevi went on to play the primary antagonist in the 2015 Tamil film 'Puli', which starred south star Vijay in the lead. The film, which released alongside 'Baahubali: The Beginning' was unsuccessful at the box-office.
