Thalapathy Vijay is currently gearing up for his political debut ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Amid buzz around his final film release and his personal life, the actor has been in the headlines after his wife Sangeetha filed for divorce. In her petition, she alleged that Vijay was involved in an extramarital affair with an actress.

Amid the ongoing proceedings, Vijay surprised many by making a public appearance alongside actress Trisha Krishnan, with whom he has often been linked in rumours.
On Thursday night, Vijay attended the wedding reception of Kalapathy Suresh’s son. What caught everyone’s attention, however, was that he was accompanied by Trisha. The two were seen twinning in off-white traditional outfits. Vijay wore an off-white shirt and veshti, while Trisha looked elegant in a similar-coloured saree paired with a red blouse.

About Vijay and Sangeetha’s divorce
Vijay, who is also the chief of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), is currently facing divorce proceedings after Sangeetha filed a petition in the Chengalpattu family court.
The petition comes amid reports that Sangeetha has been living separately from the actor. According to the filing, she accused Vijay of infidelity, alleging that he was involved in an “adulterous relationship” with an actress.
“In April 2021, the Petitioner (Sangeetha) discovered that the Respondent (Vijay) was involved in an adulterous relationship with an actress. This caused her deep emotional pain and mental suffering, amounting to betrayal and violation of marital trust,” the petition reportedly stated. It further alleged that Vijay “continued open association with the actress,” causing Sangeetha emotional agony and embarrassment to their children.
The petition also claims that since 2021, Vijay had emotionally withdrawn, treated his wife with verbal disdain, and subjected her to constructive desertion, forcing her to live separately within the matrimonial home. It further alleged that Vijay continued to travel abroad and attend public events with the said actress.
Sangeetha also claimed that the actress regularly posted pictures of her outings with Vijay on social media.
Vijay and Sangeetha first met in 1996. Sangeetha, who is of Sri Lankan origin, was brought up in Britain. The couple registered their marriage in 1998 in the UK and later solemnised it in a traditional Hindu ceremony in Chennai on August 25, 1999.
