CID is an iconic television show that first aired in 1998. After a successful run spanning over two decades, the show went off air in 2018. However, it recently made a stellar comeback with the OG cast, including actors Shivaji Satam, Dayanand Shetty, and Aditya Shrivastava, returning for a new season of the investigative mystery drama. Not just that, the series was also made available on Netflix. But a recent plot twist has left longtime fans heartbroken.

Dr Salunkhe bids adieu to CID

Over the past few weeks, CID has seen several dramatic turns—from ACP Pradyuman being presumed dead by villain Barboza to actor Parth Samthaan stepping in as the new ACP. However, ACP Pradyuman made a surprise return and revealed that there was a gaddar (traitor) in the CID team. Upon his return, he thanked Ayushmann for managing the unit in his absence. Before leaving, Ayushmann asked ACP Pradyuman about the traitor’s identity. Pradyuman then revealed that it was forensic expert Dr. Salunkhe, played by Narendra Gupta.

Dr. Salunkhe admitted to the betrayal, stating that he felt sidelined as others took credit for the cases he helped solve. As a result, Dr. Salunkhe was shown being put behind bars—indicating the end of his character's journey on the show.

Fans upset over betrayal twist

However, fans are upset by this development. Dr. Salunkhe had long been considered a smart, lovable, and fun-loving character. He shared decades of friendship with ACP Pradyuman and maintained a strong bond with the entire CID team. Many fans feel this twist seems forced and unjustified.

A user took to X and wrote, “Dr. Salunkhe as a traitor? The most shocking and highly unacceptable thing I’ve seen in CID... This man gave 27 years to the show. People know about forensics because of him—and now he’s a traitor? I really hope it’s just part of a larger plan, because we can’t accept this. He is an OG member of the CID team.”

“Seriously, makers? Dr. Salunkhe?? @Narendragupt sir is an integral part of this show. He has been with it for so long—you can’t just label him a traitor and end it like this.”

"Dr. Salunkhe: Mujhe sirf ek aadmi ka intezar rehta tha aur vo hai ACP Pradyuman, bahut miss karta hoon. These two, when not together, really show how much they care for each other. Missing you,@shivaajisatam sir. Please come back soon 🥺
