Jay Bhanushali: At home, it's masti time for Tara and me

Jay Bhanushali

Actor Jay Bhanushali is currently seen hosting  DID L'il Masters Season 5 and says his bonding with daughter Tara, has improved thanks to his experience on kids reality show. Excerpts for an interview.

What is it that keeps bring you back to Dance India Dance?

It was the conviction of the production house and channel, it’s been 13 years that I’ve been doing the show. You never forget your first job or first girlfriend, all your life. This was the first show where I got to display my skills as a host. Even If I’m doing something else, I always hope this show does well, because I had started it. It feels great that I’ve been called to host again, even after so many years.

Being a father yourself, do you feel your connect with kids has improved?
I will give all the kids who have been part of my show, the credit for my connection with my baby. Tara is two and half years old now but even before that I was hosting shows that had kids. My bonding with kids improved and I’m in a happy zone around them. That increased my bonding with Tara because I know what kids need. At home, it’s masti time for Tara and I, I’m always pulling her leg, purposely not letting her do what she wants so she fights with me. When DID started and Terence Lewis was part of it, it was more about the steps, about keeping fingers pointed etc, now these kids have seen so many reality shows, they are like professionals today. Every performance looks like it's the finale.

What is your rapport with Remo D'souza, Mouni Roy and Sonali Bendre like?
I have worked with Remo a lot, I’m friends with him. Mouni and I started our television career together, we would share a studio. She was shooting for Kyunki…Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and I was shooting for Kayamath. I’m working with Sonali ma’am for the first time but she’s down to earth and the most positive person.

What does dance mean to you?
Dance is happiness, it's when I can be myself and I know I'm not being judged. I can only dance only when I’m happy. I would like to thank our fans for the love, I’m glad for the response I’ve been getting.
