The hard-hitting trailer of the Original crime series, Poacher was unveiled today. Created, written, and directed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Richie Mehta, the upcoming series features Nimisha Sajayan, Roshan Mathew, and Dibyendu Bhattacharya in pivotal roles. Actor, producer and entrepreneur Alia Bhatt is the Executive Producer of the series.

Alia Bhatt, at the Poacher trailer launch, narrated how she got roped in for the project. "Richie and I met back in 2022, I was full-blown pregnant, just about to pop. We spoke about everything under the sun - parenting, cinema, movies, art. In that meeting, he took me through the world of Poacher. I was flabbergasted that it was all based on true events. He shared the first two episodes. Forget executive producer, I just responded as a person. I couldn't stop watching the show, it's a binge and how! You can't take your eyes off the screen. You can't take yourself away from these characters. The whole cast holds your attention. It just really moved me emotionally," she said.

Poacher is produced by QC Entertainment, the Oscar-winning production and finance company that has brought feature film hits such as Jordan Peele’s Get Out and Spike Lee’s BlacKkKlansman. An eight-part crime drama based on true events, Poacher uncovers the largest ivory poaching ring in Indian history.

The trailer provides a glimpse into the heartbreaking reality of the merciless and incessant killing of elephants. It follows a diverse group of wildlife custodians comprising forest crime fighters, police personnel, and good Samaritans, in their relentless quest to expose the largest ivory poaching ring in Indian history. But will the silent victims of these criminal acts – the helpless elephants – receive the justice they truly deserve? This question resonates deeply within the core of this thought-provoking crime series. Based on true events, Poacher skillfully sheds light on the consequences of human actions driven by personal gain and greed, thereby emphasizing the potential risks and endangering these species.

"Poacher is my tribute to wildlife crime fighters – the dedicated forest service officers, fervent members of wildlife conservation and protection organizations, animal lovers — people who are risking their lives to prevent endangering the animal species due to the personal greed of poachers,” writer, creator and director, Richie Mehta, shared.
