Think of a singing workshop and your mind will conjure images of people singing ragas or melodies and trying to master the musical notes. But Comet Media Foundation’s latest workshop, titled Yes And..., features performer Shreyans Iyer and is based on honing your imagination.

This music workshop will help you get creative

To attend the workshop, no prior experience is needed and no practical tests on ragas and musical notes will be conducted. The workshop aims to open your senses and help you be creative, imaginative and come up with new ideas (on topics ranging from solving world hunger to wooing your love).

As part of the workshop, there will be improv games, picture analysis and musical improvisations. Participants will create a story and learn to tune it into a song.

Iyer is a freelance performer and facilitator of the performing arts. He works frequently with Songbound, a UK-based charity which provides free singing and chorus sessions to children from undeserved communities across India. As a performer, he has performed at operas at the NCPA, and has been a part of plays for younger audiences, with Gillo, a Mumbai-based repertory company.
