Every track by Hip-Hop artist Vighnesh Shivanand aka Brodha V is just like his name — an engaging mix of Hip-Hop and Indian Classical.

His track Aatma Rama earned him several fans online and he also contributed to the song Ready Steady Po from the movie Chennai Express.

Vighnesh’s latest song, Aigiri Nandini, hails girl power, mythology style with the shloka about Hindu goddess Durga who takes the form of Mahishasura Mardini to destroy evil.

Raga meets rap
“I grew up listening to devotional music. At the same time, due to music on television, I was exposed to Hip-Hop as well. One of the first rap songs I heard was Patti Rap, by AR Rahman,” says 24-year-old Vighnesh, in a telephonic chat from Bangalore.
