The Sanjog Sangeet Mahotsav is a music festival held every February, and is conceptualised and organised by Shankar Kuchekar, a disciple of late Pandit Sanjog Kuchekar along with Ustad Akram Khan. He runs the Sanjog Tabla Vidyalaya in Pune and organises Classical concerts every year as a tribute to his father. Well-acclaimed artistes of Indian Classical music, Ustad Usman Khan saheb, Ustad Faiyaza Husain Khan, Ustad Shahid Parvez, music director late Ram Kadam and Ghazal singer Anwar Qureshi have participated in these concerts. Telling us more about the event, Shankar Kuchekar says, “I want to educated people about the importance of the tabla; it compliments several instruments but is best suited with the sitar and harmonium as well as with vocals.”
Pandit Fatehsingh Gangani plays the pakhawaj. This tabla is mostly played for diverse dance forms
