Dance artist and theorist late Rudolf Laban, hailed as one of the pioneers of modern dance in Europe, will have a hand in an upcoming theatre workshop in the city.

The Mumbai Assembly, in association with Shapeshift will present Laban Movement for the Actor, a physical theatre workshop by Faezeh Jalali.

It will focus on the works of Laban who created a movement vocabulary that can be articulated and hence executed with a deeper understanding of one&rsquo;s body and of human movement.
It can be applied both to text and in physical story-telling. Jalali throws light on what to expect, &ldquo;With Laban work, an actor/dancer/mover can break down a movement into its component parts for cleaner and more precise execution.
Participants will use &lsquo;continuums&rsquo; and &lsquo;efforts&rsquo;, and apply them to the voice and body to create, explore and discover, characters and scenes in depth and with precision.&rdquo;&nbsp;
