There is a lot happening Mumbai and India at the moment, and here's your bar takeover guide for the week in the city, and Bengaluru too

While you can explore flavours from the Indian cities of Kolkata and Goa, other bar takeovers take you on a world tour through Indonesia and Singapore

Flavours of Kolkata
Magazine Street Kitchen (MSK), the events and culinary destination under the Food Matters ecosystem, has announced the second edition of its bespoke dining IP, The Counter. Spanning August 6 to August 8, the three-day collaboration introduces Sienna Calcutta to Mumbaikars with a bar takeover on the first day, and culinary takeover in the following days.
The showcase opens on August 6th with a bar takeover by Bar-a-Bari, Sienna’s Bengal-forward cocktail concept. The evening focuses on local produce and indigenous ingredients viewed through a contemporary lens by pairing these distinct flavor profiles with an eclectic, high-groove set by veteran selector DJ Discoman (Nishant Walimbe).
The highlights include cocktails such as the Smoked Melon Fizz, a Bombay Sour crafted with kokum, peanut, and fish sauce, and Star of the Show integrating mango, starfruit, and piper chaba.
The culinary curation targets high-acid and umami-forward pairings, transitioning into a substantial main course format built around regional fried rice variations. Featured dishes include Cheese puffs paired with Gondhoraj jam, Dried Cabbage Axone Tacos, Chilli garlic bheja fry, and Fried rice accompanied with Kucho chingri taberu rayu, Maacher deem xo.

Goa meets Bengaluru
Tomo Kei at Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield Hotel & Convention Center hands over its bar to Room One in Goa's Assagao.
Leading the bar are Juvin and Rutwij, known for turning a simple pour into a small performance. The menu moves from Love You Data, a savoury, funky play of mezcal and strawberry gochujang, to Disco Drama's easy-going gin and clear passion fruit, Coconut Panic's bright whisky and tender coconut, and Problem Child, an earthy, fiery cognac finished with an absinthe mist. Love You, Data, and Problem Child have been curated exclusively for Tomo Kei and poured here first and only here.
Alongside, Tomo Kei keeps pace with grilled corn ribs, pan-seared gyoza, and crispy Peruvian potatoes. Low light, good conversation, one night only.
