There is nothing quite like strutting back onto your old university campus when you actually have somewhere important to be. It&rsquo;s the ultimate flex: returning to your alma mater not as a nostalgic ghost, but with a distinct purpose.

Take veteran journalist Rajdeep Sardesai, who was back at Oxford on June 2 for the Khushwant Singh Literary Festival. Having spent three years there earning what he jokingly calls a &ldquo;proper degree&rdquo; &mdash; a subtle, delightful dig at those flashy, three-week summer certificates &mdash; Rajdeep has more than earned his elite alumni credentials.
Expectedly, his trip down memory lane required revisiting the old haunts. Having attended to the business at hand, he slipped away to explore the campus cricket grounds and even dropped by a legendary coffee shop that has been caffeinating Oxford students since 1654. He was, however, mildly devastated to find the management had changed.
Between panel discussions, the memories came rushing back &mdash; especially of his days playing blues cricket. He fondly recalls facing off against former England captain Michael Atherton, who was repping the dark side (Cambridge) at the time.
With just two talks in London and one in Oxford, this whistle-stop UK tour was brief &mdash; and while his wife, MP Sagarika Ghose, shares the same alma mater, she sat this one out. &ldquo;It has been seven or eight years since my last visit, and this was for one day only. I missed being able to hang around,&rdquo; Rajdeep tells yours truly.
Well, having graduated in 1988, the affable anchor and author has an excellent reason to plan a return in two years. A grand 40-year reunion seems only fitting.
<h2>Back To Reality</h2>
The collective exhale you heard across the nation on Sunday night wasn&rsquo;t a weather anomaly &mdash; it was the sound of a motley crew of cricketers and support staff remembering they actually have lives, families, and homes to return to, now that the 2026 IPL season has wrapped up.

For two solid months, the real world was partially on pause. But the minute the final wickets fell, a glorious migration back to reality began. Take Dwayne Bravo, who immediately traded his team strategy boards for a proud dad moment, eagerly sharing news of his son Dwade Bravo&rsquo;s First Communion this week. &ldquo;I&rsquo;m so happy to be home for this special occasion to celebrate with him!&rdquo; said the KKR mentor.
And Dwayne isn&rsquo;t the only one swapping the stadium floodlights for real life. While Virat Kohli has been busy with spiritual pursuits since soaking in back-to-back championship glory with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, half the international cricket circuit is frantically boarding flights to Europe to scrub the zinc cream off their faces. Meanwhile, the rest of us are left staring blankly at our TV screens, trying to remember what we used to do at 7.30 pm every night.
<h2>Flutterly Fabulous!</h2>
It feels like only yesterday that an announcement drenched in flowers, butterflies, and the softest pastel hues declared, &ldquo;Prithvi is thrilled to announce the birth of his little baby sister.&rdquo; Fast-forward in true Ambani fashion, and baby Veda is already three.

The daughter of Shloka and Akash Ambani marked the May-end milestone with a celebration that was equal parts whimsical and extravagant. While time may fly, some things clearly stay the same &mdash; most notably, the family&rsquo;s love affair with butterflies. The delicate motif once again fluttered across the festivities, serving as the theme of the day.
Stealing the spotlight was a five-tier confection in dreamy shades of purple, lavender, and pink, complete with LED lights and a flapping butterfly accent that practically took flight. As if that wasn&rsquo;t sweet enough, the party favours also included an eye-popping 1,000 cookies and 100 cupcakes for guests to enjoy. Safe to say, the day unfolded beautifully, with every detail earning its wings.
<h2>The Pendant Plot Twist</h2>
I&rsquo;m forever hunting for stories in boardrooms, back alleys, political corridors, and celebrity entourages &mdash; and yet sometimes the best scoop is sitting quietly in the audience of a stand-up comedy show.

At a recent gig, stand-up star Gaurav Kapoor decided to indulge in a little audience interaction and landed on a Delhi-based jeweller. What followed was the sort of revelation no scriptwriter would dare pitch for fear of sounding ridiculous. As Kapoor dug deeper, it emerged that the jeweller had once crafted a piece for none other than Will Smith &mdash; a dramatic, diamond-studded Ganesh pendant.
Naturally, Kapoor seized the moment and turned it into comedy gold. &ldquo;Will Smith yahan Safdarjung se samaan le raha hai, aa kar ke?&rdquo; he marvelled, voicing the collective disbelief of everyone in the room. Then came the killer line: &ldquo;Yeh Tiffany aur Cartier kam pad gaye kya duniya mein?&rdquo;

That&rsquo;s what makes the story so delightful. One minute it&rsquo;s routine crowd work; the next it&rsquo;s Hollywood colliding with South Delhi craftsmanship. Of all the places to stumble upon a tale involving an A-list American actor, a comedy gig wasn&rsquo;t high on my list. Then again, that&rsquo;s the thing about stories &mdash; they rarely turn up where you&rsquo;re looking for them.
