Given Abu Jani&rsquo;s vast personal collection of extraordinary jewels, it is almost astonishing that it has taken the celebrated <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sunday-mid-day/article/abu-jani-and-sandeep-khosla-launch-a-wonder-room-to-share-their-love-for-designing-spaces-23646173" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">designer duo of Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla</a> four decades to launch their first jewellery collection. &ldquo;I&rsquo;ll be honest,&rdquo; Sandeep tells yours truly, &ldquo;we did consider it a few years ago, pre-Covid, but we were ahead of our curve then.&rdquo;

This weekend, that curve finally comes full circle with Iconic Jewels &mdash; a collection that distils the duo&rsquo;s maximalist, romantic universe into pieces designed to become heirlooms. Its enduring muse is Dimple Kapadia, one of the very few who has been wearing AJSK jewellery long before it became a commercial proposition. &ldquo;Abu had a rose-cut encrusted cross made for himself many years ago, which Dimple loved, so we made one for her as well,&rdquo; Sandeep reveals.&nbsp;
Clearly, their bond is instinctive &mdash; rooted in a shared gypsy spirit and an appetite for rebellion. &ldquo;All of us are here to break rules,&rdquo; says the affable aesthete, explaining why Dimple feels so perfectly at home in their world. And then there is longevity. &ldquo;Dimple ruled in 1973 with Bobby, and in 2026, she rules the internet,&rdquo; Sandeep says. It is a fitting parallel to AJSK&rsquo;s own 40 fabulous years. And so, on Sunday, as decades of fashion meet a lifelong love of jewels, expect a little alchemy &mdash; when all that glitters will, quite spectacularly, be gold.
<h2>Love Beyond Labels</h2>

The former VJ, television host and actor recently revisited their early days on a vodcast, recalling how her father came to accept Kabir despite their different religious backgrounds.

&ldquo;My father got very impressed with Kabir,&rdquo; Mini recalls, before sharing the wonderfully disarming line her father eventually offered: &ldquo;Khan or Khanna mein sirf &lsquo;NA&rsquo; ka farak hota hai.&rdquo;
At a time when religious differences are too often turned into fault lines, and intolerance can make coexistence seem harder than it should be, their story feels especially meaningful. It is a gentler reminder that people can meet, love and build a life without allowing labels to define them. Their wedding, Mini remembers, was a joyful melting pot of cultures. &ldquo;We had the best time,&rdquo; she confesses.
Nearly three decades on, their example underscores that love has never needed everyone to be the same &mdash; we only need a willingness to celebrate what makes us different.
<h2>Royal Rendezvous</h2>
Six degrees of separation can make the world seem wonderfully small. And in Gstaad last January, the connections were positively regal: Saif Ali Khan, our very own nawab, and <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/entertainment/bollywood-news/article/kareena-kapoor-on-choosing-bollywood-over-education-i-regret-not-completing-23647999" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Kareena Kapoor Khan</a>, film royalty in her own right, found themselves in conversation with Princess Yasmine Murat of Pontecorvo.

The introduction had an especially intriguing twist. Saif, a keen student of Napol&eacute;on Bonaparte, was meeting someone whose family history leads directly into the Emperor&rsquo;s inner circle. Yasmine is related by marriage to Napol&eacute;on through the Murat family &mdash; descendants of his brother-in-law and famed Marshal Joachim Murat, who married Napol&eacute;on&rsquo;s youngest sister, Caroline Bonaparte. Yasmine&rsquo;s fascination with that extraordinary history has now found literary expression in her first book about Caroline, published in June 2026.
It is little wonder, then, that conversation flowed with our local lovelies. Saif evidently made such an impression that the princess still recalls their meeting with fondness. And there was another shared passion: Yasmine has a great love for India &mdash; its cinema, its dancing and, naturally, its gloriously extravagant weddings. She is also a dear friend of Mumbai maven Chhaya Momaya. When history, cinema and a deep affection for India cross paths, you know you&rsquo;re in for a rather good story.
<h2>Marking A Milestone</h2>
Whether he&rsquo;s jet-setting between the high-rises of Mumbai and Dubai, or simply making money moves between releases, Vivek Oberoi has a knack for staying firmly on our radar. His surprise, ultra-glam cameo in Dubai Bling added another dash of buzz recently, and now the actor is looking ahead to something far more monumental &mdash; Nitesh Tiwari&rsquo;s cinematic epic, Ramayana.

As if preparing for a mythological magnum opus isn&rsquo;t enough of a headline, the ever-charming star is also blowing out the candles on his 50th birthday today. But if you&rsquo;re expecting a mega-bash filled with paparazzi and glitterati, think again. Vivek is determined to keep this milestone celebration strictly low-key.&nbsp;
Despite our considerable powers of persuasion, he lets slip only that his day will be deeply spiritual and intensely meaningful. The rest of his itinerary remains firmly under wraps. Given Vivek&rsquo;s penchant for making headlines, perhaps ringing in his next half-century with a little serenity is exactly the way to go.
