Cheers For Fears

Revenge is a dish best served… with giggles? Harman Singha, Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia, Mouni Roy, and Sanjay Kapoor bring the inside jokes to the promo trail for ‘Ab Hoga Hisaab.’

Music Is The Food Of Love

When Shankar Mahadevan opens a restaurant — or, in this case, two — don’t expect a ribbon-cutting. Expect a jam session. The celebrations around the launch of Malgudi’s newest UAE outposts — Dubai on June 14 and Abu Dhabi on June 15 — felt less like restaurant openings and more like an all-star reunion of Indian music, cinema, and food lovers. Shankar flew in a handful of close friends for the occasion, including birthday twin Salim Merchant, Reshma and Sulaiman Merchant, Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi, Sonu Nigam, Boman Irani, and Kunal Vijayakar.

The result? The ultimate melting pot of food and music, with a generous side of camaraderie. As plates arrived, so did the performances. Sonu teamed up with Salim and Sulaiman for one of the evening’s musical highlights, while Boman emerged as the group’s unlikely rockstar. Guitar in hand, he joined Sonu for Hindi-English mash-ups, including a crowd-pleasing I Did It My Way, mixed with Kal Ho Naa Ho. The showstopper came the next night though, with Boman’s rendition of We Are the World — performed in the voices of the legendary artists who sang the original.
As this lot trickles back into aamchi Mumbai after two nights of laughter, nostalgia, great food and great music, we’re already hoping for an invitation to the next pre-launch party. Clearly, Shankar likes to mark a milestone by serving up food, music and love in equal measure.

From Jaipur With Love

Taylor Swift added yet another trophy to her ever-expanding shelf this week, making history at Thursday night’s 55th Annual Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction and Awards Gala in New York City. The singer-songwriter was celebrated for her extraordinary impact on music, and naturally, the room was packed with A-listers.

The most delightful detail? Steven Spielberg himself was spotted filming Taylor’s celebration on her mobile phone. Yes, one of the greatest directors of all time, reduced to enthusiastic personal paparazzi duty.

Taylor arrived in Givenchy, looking every bit the superstar. But for those of us in India, the real headline sparkled a little closer to home: the ruby ring on her index finger, crafted in Jaipur. “This was a specially crafted piece made at the Amrapali Jewels workshop in Jaipur. We were informed that it was something she had particularly wanted to wear. The design was already part of our production line, so we completed the piece and arranged for it to be shipped to the United States, enabling her to wear it for the occasion,” Amrapali’s Tarang Arora tells yours truly. Givenchy was expected, Spielberg was delightful, but the Jaipur-crafted ruby ring was the evening’s most satisfying plot twist — subtle, elegant and impossible to ignore.

Quiet Solidarity

Camaraderie seems to be the unofficial theme of the day, between Shankar Mahadevan’s weekend celebrations in the UAE and Anurag Kashyap’s affectionate shout-out to Imtiaz Ali. The universe is signalling togetherness — with industry bromances coming thick and fast.
Rashmika Mandanna and Kriti Sanon
But the more interesting stories are quieter, and unmistakably rooted in women showing up for women. Urfi Javed, fresh off another headline-grabbing outfit, turned up at Desi Bling star Tejasswi Prakash’s birthday bash in Mumbai last week, posed for the paparazzi with her, and even bent down (in a very tight skirt) to fix Tejasswi’s outfit — all without missing a beat. Style politics aside, that’s solidarity in motion.
Then came the Pune film promotion featuring Shahid Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, and Kriti Sanon, where chaos spilled over and the crowd turned overwhelming. In the middle of the frenzy, Kriti was seen instinctively shielding co-star Rashmika, cutting through the noise with protective calm. Forget glossy PR narratives — camaraderie is best when it’s inconvenient, unplanned, and unfiltered. The rest is just caption material.

The Vampire Diaries

Imtiaz Ali’s birthday came with the kind of chaotic warmth only the film industry can manufacture — part love letter, part roast, part cinematic fever dream.
Anurag Kashyap
As the filmmaker marked another trip around the sun on June 16, Anurag Kashyap decided subtlety was overrated and dropped a gloriously unhinged birthday wish on Instagram, praising the “fresh brand new” Imtiaz, teasing his films from Amar Singh Chamkila to the imaginary sophomore outing Main Vaapas Aaunga, and generally declaring eternal affection with trademark mischief.
Imtiaz Ali
But the most hilarious action was in the comments section. One user, staring at the attached photo (which we’ve reproduced here), wrote, “Esi picture daali he mujhe laga chal basa,” only for Anurag to instantly clap back: “Ye vampire hai. Na marega na buddha hoga.” That single exchange did more cardio than the entire post, leaving us in splits. Between affectionate chaos, fake filmographies, and immortal-vampire allegations, the internet collectively agreed: this friendship is its own genre.

The universe is signalling togetherness — with industry bromances coming thick and fast.
