A festival for pakhawaj

Dhrupad Sansthan from Bhopal in association with city-based Arya Sangeet Prasarak Mandal, is organising Pakhawaj Parva, a three-day festival of pakhawaj, the Indian percussion instrument in the city. Conceived as a tribute to veteran pakhawaj maestro Pandit Ramashish Pathak, it will see performances by 25 renowned pakhawaj artistes.

Akhilesh Gundecha, organiser of the event says, “This is the first time a pakhawaj festival is happening in Maharashtra in which artists from all over the country who play this instrument will be perform together.” The city became a favoured destination as it is the only place that has the highest concentration of musicians who learn pakhawaj.
