Most of us recognise JRD Tata as the philanthropist and the pioneering force who played a vital role in shaping the Tata Group. What flies under the radar, quite ironically, is that he set the ball rolling for aviation in the country more than 90 years ago.

In 1932, Tata became the first Indian pilot to take off from Drigh Road Airport in Karachi and land in Juhu aerodrome, Bombay carrying airmail. We were delighted when we discovered a DIY kit that lets you recreate the Puss Moth aircraft that achieved this historic feat.
Measuring 1:22 of the life size aircraft, the kit comes in birch plywood, mimicking the feel of woodwork. For the butterfingers among us, the kit adds metal tweezers to handle the delicate pieces.
