A premier indie band’s drummer will teach his trade at a workshop

The Local Train is a Delhi-based band that is one of the darlings of the Indian indie music scene. The outfit is, in fact, so popular that their songs have individually notched up over 10 million views on YouTube, which is an enviable number for any band or musician in this space. That makes Sahil Sarin, who is the band’s drummer who started playing at the age of five, an ideal candidate to conduct a workshop on the instrument.
Sarin will conduct an interactive drum clinic this weekend that is suitable for people of all ages and various levels of musical ability. The Berklee College of Music alumni will also discuss ways of going beyond the technicalities of the instrument to develop better musicality, at the two-hour session. A part of the proceeds will be donated to Feeding From Far, a charitable organisation that supports underprivileged communities in Mumbai. All you need to take part is a notebook and pen, so it doesn’t matter if you have a drum kit at home or not.
