This weekend, popular dessert destination, Love & Cheesecake is hosting their yearly Gingerbread House workshop, where young attendees will have the chance to learn how to create a proper gingerbread house and decorate it in many innovative ways. For those ready to dive into the end-of-year festive season, this is a leisurely as well as interesting activity.

“This is the fifth year that we are conducting this workshop. Two sessions of an hour-and-a-half each will be conducted a week apart, the first for children aged 12 and above, and the second for those aged five and above. In the beginning, participants will assemble [the main] structure of the house with edible gingerbread cookies. They will be guided throughout the process,” informs Ruchyeta Bhatia, co-founder of Love & Cheesecake, who will be hosting the session with her co-founder, chef Amit Sharma. All materials will be provided at the venue. Once this process is complete, each participant will be given a wide variety of art and craft decorations, all of which will be edible, to decorate the house using their imagination; these can include candies, sprinkles, festive toppers, and icing.

Participants can take their decorated gingerbread houses home. The sweet creations can be eaten or displayed. “We would like people to create cherished holiday memories that extend beyond just purchasing a [finished] product,” Bhatia states, adding, “It is open to everyone, regardless of prior baking experience. It’s a way to fully embrace the holiday spirit and the classic Christmas tradition, centred on togetherness and cheer.
