Surrealism is in vogue now,&rdquo; shares Eirini Meze, founder of the global art platform, MeSo Ventures. As curator, Meze is overseeing the showcase, Mythologies of Colour, as it prepares for its opening this week at a venue in Shivaji Park.

The showcase arrives at The Kin Hotel after two weeks at Soho House in Juhu. &ldquo;It began with the idea of curating a show with a focus on colours, and the sea,&rdquo; Meze reveals. The result is a series of 11 works by three artists who capture the dynamism and uniqueness of their approach. The trio &mdash; Mary Pye, Parnika Mittal, and Jessie Makinson &mdash;trace their professional roots to the United Kingdom and are, as Meze shares, &lsquo;professional&rsquo; in their approach to art, ideas, and technique.

Yet, they possess a distinct individual identity. Pye&rsquo;s works, she explains, reflect peace. They possess a very meditative quality. Mittal, based in Delhi, started out in Central Saint Martins. Her figurative works reflect the fractured abstraction that &lsquo;carries the emotional residue of movement and displacement&rsquo;.

Makinson, meanwhile, creates canvases where 18th Century folklore, Georgian parlour games, and eco sci-fi collide. &ldquo;People always respond differently to them. With Pye and Mittal, they have questions about the artwork, or the artist. With Jessie [Makinson], most people are drawn to the figures on the canvas,&rdquo; Meze reveals. In two weeks, Mumbai might have more questions.
