There is a famous Gujarati saying by poet Ardeshar Faramji Khabardar better known by his pen name ‘Adal’: “Jya jya vase ek Gujarati, tya tya sadakaal Gujarat.” (Where there is a Gujarati, you will find Gujarat). Despite its multiculturalist character, Juhu’s residents are familiar with Gujarati fare, thanks to the community’s presence in this locality. It’s welcomed a new F&B space, Makaan, an all-day Gujarati snacking restaurant established by restaurateurs with distinctly different styles: Samyukta Nair, daughter of Dinesh Nair and granddaughter of The Leela founder late Captain CP Krishnan Nair, co-founded LSL Capital with her father in 2016, and oversees Michelin-starred Jamavar amidst a portfolio of restaurants in London and Dubai. She joins hands with restaurateur Karan Shah, who worked with late Asha Jhaveri to run Tardeo’s Swati Snacks since 2017.
