What happens between a tiny spore, and the mushroom on your plate? Experience this journey at a farm tour that takes a closer look at the science, skills, and sustainability behind speciality fungi

Make your way to Palghar this weekend, where Shroom Shack and The Mushroom Company will invite visitors to understand the trajectory and science of how these fungi grow. The tour begins with substrate preparation, where wood sawdust, agricultural straw, and local agri-waste are mixed and pasteurised to create the growing medium.
Once the substrate is ready, the process moves into the lab. Here, clean mushroom mycelium, or ‘spawn’, is introduced into the growing beds. The bags are then placed in dark, temperature-controlled incubation rooms, where the mycelium gradually spreads through them.
