In his debut novel, Rahul Singh explores the anxieties of being in an open relationship as a queer person. Meanwhile, we also get a glimpse into the perspective of their Muslim domestic help as she tries to gauge their relationship and navigates her own ideas of love.</p>

<p>Disowned by her mother after coming out to her at the age of 22, K Vaishali moves out of her Mumbai home into a hostel room in Hyderabad. The hostel, however, is far from being habitable. It is dingy, the room has a non-functional door, and the girls who display &ldquo;homosexual tendencies&rdquo; are thrown out. This is not a rarity in the country. Dealing with loneliness, anxiety, and sickness, Vaishali writes with raw honesty what it means for young Indians like her to live at the intersections of gender, sexuality, and neurodivergence.</p>

<p>Santanu Bhattacharya gives us a saga of three generations of gay men navigating a volatile world over several decades. Vivaan finds love on an app whereas his uncle Mambro remembers finding it in his classroom as a kid. Meanwhile, Mambro&rsquo;s uncle Sukumar discovered moments of intimacy with a man at a printing press in 1970s Calcutta. With the changing laws, Bhattacharya writes about the stories we inherit and the ones we leave behind.</p>

<p>This anthology by trans rights activist and Tamil Nadu&rsquo;s first transgender engineer Grace Banu, translated into English from Tamil by Shalini Senthilnathan, examines the vulnerabilities experienced by trans and Dalit communities. It is radical in its approach and asks difficult questions about creating greater opportunities for inclusion of those at the margins. Banu founded the Trans Rights Now Collective to support the communities by demanding affirmative action.</p>
<h2>All That&rsquo;s Left Behind (Simon &amp; Schuster India)</h2>

<p>In the new collection of poems, Aditya Tiwari explores ideas of memory, displacement, love, and resistance. Several poems reflect on traces from the past: a mother&rsquo;s trenchcoat from the 1980s, a mango tree from childhood, a father&rsquo;s Bajaj scooter, among other things. Political and intimate, they inhabit the space between elegy and erasure.</p>
