The Bombay Zine Fest completes a decade of having evolved into a quietly nurtured space of freedom, and a city-driven community built by Himanshu S and Aqui Thami

It literally takes a village. When we drop in to speak with Aqui Thami and Himanshu S, co-founders of the Bombay Zine Fest at KCA hall in Bandra on a late afternoon, the scene is abuzz. The tables have just been delivered, and Himanshu is busy trying to call an old friend, Bharat Bhaiyya, who has sent them in. “It is not just the artists and students, but friends and neighbours.
Sheela Tai, my neighbourhood flower seller near Sister Library, or Shobha Didi, whose children studied at the library, they often check in on us, ask if we had food, or even to ask if everything is well with the fest,” shares Thami, with a laugh.
