The police has nabbed a gangster, who was convicted and sentenced to life in a murder case, but had jumped parole from the Nashik Central jail a few months ago.&nbsp;
After being granted parole, Sachin Gajanan Shethe (37) had gone into hiding and had even changed his looks to dodge the police. However, an informer foiled his plan and the Shivaji Nagar police finally succeeded in putting him behind bars again.
Shete, who is a resident of Mira Road, was serving life sentence in the Nashik Central Jail, when he had applied for parole. After he was granted the same in June this year, he had gone to his home in Mira Road. But, he did not return after the parole period was over and instead, went into hiding. The Kashimira police then filed an FIR against Shete. Recently, the Shivaji Nagar police received information on Shete&rsquo;s whereabouts. Acting on the information, the police detained Shete, who had disguised himself to mislead the cops. "He had grown a beard and would move around in a pathani suit. When the police asked his name, he identified himself as Sohail," said Bhimashankar Dhole, senior inspector of Shivaji Nagar police.&nbsp;"We learnt that the police in Mira Road was looking for him in a parole jump case. After arresting him, we handed him over to the Mira Road police that sent him back to Nashik Jail," said sub-inspector Mayur Bhamare. Shete is involved in several crimes, including two murder cases. He was convicted and sentenced to life for the murder of a union leader in Malad in 2000. He had challenged the conviction in the Supreme Court, where his sentence was upheld. In 2009, he was charged under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime (MCOCA) Act.
