In a honey trap case, two women and three men were arrested by Charkop police on Saturday for allegedly blackmailing a 53-year-old doctor. The doctor, Sudhir Shetty, who own a clinic at sector 3 in Charkop, lodged a complaint saying he was harassed, beaten up and extorted to the tune of Rs 2 lakh.

Police officers said that according to the complaint, one of the accused women allegedly approached the doctor on November 8 and shot a video when the doctor was conducting a check-up. The woman then began to blackmail Shetty and threatened to post the video if he did not pay Rs 2.5 lakh.

Then on November 19, three men—identified as  Amit Mane, Deepak Mane and Manoj Naidu— and another woman barged into his clinic and harassed him. They allegedly hit the doctor and left with Rs 2 lakh. Shetty then approached the police, said an officer from Charkop police station.

When the reporter contacted the victim, he refused to talk.

“Three accused men were arrested yesterday and a notice was given to the two accused women, asking them to be present at the police station in the morning. They were arrested today for threatening, extortion and voluntarily causing hurt to the victim,” said another police officer, adding that the accused have been remanded in police custody. Police are investigating the case further.
