Bombay High Court transfers dowry death probe to Central Bureau of Investigation, flags police lapses

The Bombay High Court has transferred the probe into the death of a woman, allegedly due to dowry harassment in 2023, to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), noting glaring discrepancies in the police investigation.

A bench of Justice Sarang Kotwal and Justice Sandesh Patil passed the order on a plea filed by the victim’s father, who raised concerns over a “lackadaisical” investigation by the Kashimira police in Thane district.
