"Around 11.15 am, two unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants opened fire at Yadav, in which he suffered a bullet injury on his lower back. He was admitted to a government hospital in Gondia, from where he was referred to a medical facility in Nagpur. His condition is said to be stable," Superintendent of Police Nikhil Pingale said.

After firing at him, the culprits fled from the scene, he said. "We are investigating all angles and the police will soon nab the culprits," the SP said.

A quarrel took place between the victim and one of the accused over some issue following which the latter fired at him from the gun, an official from Manpada police station told newswire Press Trust of India. The victim suffered injuries and was rushed to a hospital for treatment.

Within a few hours, the police in Maharashtra's Thane district arrested the assailant and three other persons for their involvement in the incident and booked them under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act, senior police inspector Ashok Honmane said.
