Delivering justice to 66-year-old Patrick Harry David's family, the Cantonment police have finally solved his murder.
David a resident of Juna Modikhana in Camp, was found bludgeoned to death on Sachapir Street in Camp in the wee hours of March 12.
Police have arrested a history-sheeter, Mahesh Mahadev Ovhal (22), a resident of Kondhwa, who, with his two accomplices, was earlier nabbed in 2009 for allegedly stealing documents from Cantonment court.
The deceased was an alcoholic and used to visit a wine shop often. He had earlier worked with an engineering company from where he was fired in 1981. He used to stay out of his home for days, police said.
Inspector (Crime) Nitin Jadhav from Cantonment police station said, "Investigations revealed that David was addicted to alcohol.
He was used by agents at the railway reservation counter to stand in queue; they would give him some money in return." The Detection Branch (DB) sleuths on Monday nabbed Ovhal based on a description they had sketched.
Ovhal was a juvenile when he was arrested in an earlier case. "On Tuesday, Ovhal was produced before the Cantonment court which remanded him to five days in police custody," Inspector Jadhav added.
