A 17-year-old girl allegedly died by suicide at her residence in Maharashtra's Thane district, reportedly being distressed over scoring lower-than-expected marks in the Class 12 Maharashtra board examinations, news agency PTI reported, quoting the police on Monday. 

The incident occurred on Sunday, May 3, at her home in Bhiwandi city, an officer from Narpoli police station said.
