Nearly Rs.11 lakh worth ganja has been seized in two separate cases and four men have been arrested by the police in Palghar district, Maharashtra, reported news agency PTI.&nbsp;
A team from the Pelhar police nabbed a man and woman near <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/cops-dispose-of-seized-drugs-worth-over-rs-14-crore-with-court-nod-23205411" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Sopara Phata</a> on Wednesday and found them to be carrying 25 kg of ganja, the official said.
The same day, a patrolling party caught two persons with 24 kg of marijuana at Tungar Phata, reported PTI.&nbsp;
As per Jayant Bajbale, deputy commissioner of police (Zone III Virar), 49 kg of ganja worth about Rs 11 lakh was seized and four persons were arrested. As per the PTI report, he said that further investigations are underway.
In another incident in Maharashtra, The Navi Mumbai Police in Maharashtra arrested a 26-year-old man and seized heroin valued at more than Rs 8 lakh from his possession in Navi Mumbai, an official said on May 21, reported the PTI.
According to the PTI, the Navi Mumbai police's Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) arrested the alleged drug peddler identified as Ajay Jadhav, on Monday from the Ghansoli area, he said.
He was found in possession of 54.26 grams of heroin valued at Rs 8,13,900, said the official from the Rabale police station.
Meanwhile, <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/maharashtra-26-year-old-man-held-in-navi-mumbai-drugs-worth-rs-8-lakh-seized-by-police-23350374" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">in an another incident</a>, the Mumbai Police had earlier this month busted a drug-making unit in Rajasthan and seized mephedrone worth over Rs 100 crore, an official said.
A raid was conducted in Rajasthan's Jodhpur and drugs, <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/drug-bust-at-agartala-railway-station-two-arrested-with-22-kg-cannabis-23350837" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">drug producing materials</a> were seized by the team of police officials, he had earlier said.
The total value of the seizure is worth around Rs 107 crore, he added.
The action came after the investigations in a case where the police officials from Sakinaka Police Station in suburban Mumbai nabbed two suspects with mephedrone worth over Rs 3 crore in Mumbai in December 2023.
The police investigations revealed that the suspects had allegedly got the drugs from a person running a 'drug manufacturing unit' in Rajasthan's Jodhpur, the official said.
A team of police officials reached Jodhpur and raided the premises. They found that he was allegedly producing drugs in the unit, police sources had earlier said.
Apart from mephedrone and raw materials used to make the drug were also seized from the unit being run by a man.
All three persons have been booked under the stringent <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/drug-bust-at-agartala-railway-station-two-arrested-with-22-kg-cannabis-23350837" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS)</a> Act and further investigations were underway.
