The official said the body was tied to a stone and had wounds on the back and neck caused by sharp weapons. It was later identified as that of Lobanshi.

The Manpada Police in Dombivali area of Thane on Friday registered a murder case. Investigations are underway to identify those who committed the murder and the motive behind the crime, said the station house officer of the police station.

The police said that the man was allegedly murdered over a dispute and both the suspects hid his body in a pit dug at a residence in Bathinda, according to the ANI.

"The deceased, named Harshdeep (21) had been missing since January 17. In this case, an FIR was already registered with the Bathinda police and a probe was on. Meanwhile, the police were informed of the bad odour that started spreading in the locality where his body was disposed.
