Mumbai: 12-year-old boy finds pistol in garbage heap, fires a round believing it to be toy

A police team rushed to the spot located near ground in Dahisar area of Mumbai after being alerted about the firing and confiscated the pistol and bullets, an official said

A 12-year-old-boy was miraculously saved after he reportedly fired a round from a pistol thinking it was a toy that he had found in a garbage heap in Dahisar area of Mumbai, police said on Saturday, reported the PTI.

"The boy who found a pistol in a garbage dump fired a round assuming it was a toy, though fortunately no one was injured," a Mumbai police official said on Saturday.

The incident took place on Friday near a ground close to Saikrupa Chawl in Dahisar, a suburb on the northern tip of the metropolis.
