A 35-year-old man was arrested by MIDC Police for a making a hoax bomb threat call to Mumbai Police's main control room. The accused, Manjeet Kumar Gautam, allegedly claimed that a bomb would explode at the Mumbai International Airport on Tuesday Morning.

According to the police, Gautam, a resident of Sakinaka in Andheri (East), had an argument with his wife, and in a fit of frustration, called the police control room and made the false threat around 9 am on Tuesday.

Gautam claimed in his call that the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport would be blown up in a blast.

The MIDC Police promptly launched an investigation and, with the help of technical analysis, traced the location of the mobile number used to make the threat call.

Under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 10)  Sachin Gunjal and Assistant Commissione of Police (ACP) Dr Shashikant Bhosale, a team was formed to track down the accused. It comprised Senior Inspector Rajiv Chavan, Sub-Inspector Anandrao Kashid, and several constables.

The team rushed to the location traced from the call. Upon arrival, they found that the suspect’s phone was switched off. Further technical investigation, however, helped in confirming the suspect’s identity through his photograph and name. Local inquiries led the officers to a garment company where Gautam was employed. He was arrested and brought to MIDC Police Station in Andheri (East) for further questioning and subsequently handed over to the Sahar Police for further investigation.
