The Santacruz police arrested leading Telugu actress Naira Shah and her friend in the wee hours of Monday from a five-star hotel at Juhu. The actress was celebrating her birthday with her friends. According to the police, they found Shah and her friend consuming charas. The duo were produced before the Bandra court which granted bail to them.
According to the Santacruz police, they received information that a narcotic substance was being used in the birthday bash of a leading film actress in the hotel where a bunch of people who belong to the film industry were also present. The police first sent its team in plain clothes to get confirmation and a raid was conducted at 3am.

"As per the information we got, we found a female and her friend consuming high quality charas rolled in a cigarette. The duo were arrested under the NDPS Act and later granted bail by the court," said Dnyaneshwar Ramnath Ganore, senior PI Santacruz police station.
According to the police, the information was about a commercial quantity of drugs being used by some high-profile people in the party, but when they reached there they could only find Shah and her friend identified as Ashiq Sajid Hussain. The cops have recovered just one gram of charas from the duo.
"The actress has posted photos of her friends on social media during the celebration, but when we reached there we could find only two people. We are examining if others (seen in the pictures) too consumed the narcotic substance and from where they procured it," said another officer.
According to sources, the accused Hussain is close to many Bollywood celebrities and has been organising parties for them.
Queries regarding the arrest and consumption of drugs sent to the actress remained unanswered.
