<a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/mumbai-police-registers-fir-after-sonam-kapoors-sister-rheas-rs-1-35-crore-jewellery-stolen-during-mumbai-new-york-flight-23636069" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Mumbai Police</a> on Saturday said that it has arrested as many as 23 suspects and registered 11 cases against violence during the ongoing BEST strike.
"The criminal cases were registered during the period of the BEST bus strike on June 19, 2026," an official said.
According to official figures, a total of 11 cognisable offences were registered across Mumbai during the strike period.
Police said action was taken against several individuals in connection with incidents reported during the disruption.
A total of 23 <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/mumbai-burglary-case-mumbai-police-nab-two-for-burglary-solve-six-cases-23635903" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">accused persons were arrested</a> as part of the investigations and law enforcement measures carried out during the strike.
<h2>Notices issued to 22 individuals</h2>
In addition to the arrests, police served notices to 22 individuals in accordance with legal procedures.
Officials have not yet released detailed information regarding the nature of all the offences or the specific incidents that led to the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/mumbai-police-property-recovery-mumbai-police-return-lost-and-stolen-property-worth-rs-3-26-crore-to-440-complainants-23636071" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">police action</a>.
<h2>Strike continues</h2>
The BEST bus strike on Saturday continued as it caused significant disruption to public transport services across Mumbai, affecting thousands of daily commuters.
The police said that it remained on alert throughout the period to maintain public order and ensure that essential services and <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-best-strike-metro-records-significant-increase-in-footfall-during-protests-23636073" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">transportation routes remained operational</a>.
It said that it continue to monitor the situation and take appropriate action wherever required.
