He was nabbed on the charge of forging documents related to 23 hectares of a plot in Marunji village near Hinjewadi IT Park. The forged documents were related to a project that is owned by Aniruddha Deshpande, who is the managing director of City Corporation Ltd and other partners. Deshpande lodged the complaint at Deccan police station on Tuesday night against Tanna and his accomplices. Copspeak AEC inspector Sachin Sawant said, &ldquo;Raju Punjabi of Rama Group had gone to Deshpande&rsquo;s office recently. He showed him a term sheet, which stated that Deshpande&rsquo;s company had an MoU with another company named NHK Developers, whose partner is the suspect Tanna. The forged documents included a fake receipt of Rs 21 crore. Tanna had forged Deshpande&rsquo;s signature and had an unauthorised deal of Rs 12 crore with Punjabi about the 23 hectares of land located in Marunji.&rdquo; &ldquo;After we received the complaint on Tuesday night, we sent out a team to nab Tanna from his Mumbai office on Wednesday morning. We also suspect his associate Vimal Shah&rsquo;s involvement in the case,&rdquo; said Sawant. &ldquo;Tanna has two offences of cheating registered against him in 2005-06 at Mumbai, in which he had duped some people to the tune of Rs 20 crore. He had made a movie using this money, but it flopped at the box office,&rdquo; Sawant added.

The Anti-Extortion Cell (AEC) of the Crime Branch on Wednesday night arrested a Mumbai-based builder Nilesh Mahendra Tanna (30) for cheating a Pune-based builder Raju Punjabi to the tune of Rs 12 crore.
