Khar man held for renewing arms licence with fake documents

A 36-year-old Khar resident has been arrested for allegedly renewing an arms licence in Nagaland using a forged police clearance certificate and fake documents. The fraud was uncovered after Nagaland police sought verification from Mumbai's Khar police, who found the submitted documents to be fabricated

A 36-year-old Khar resident was arrested for allegedly renewing an arms licence in Nagaland using a forged police clearance certificate and other fake documents. The alleged fraud came to light after Nagaland police sought verification from Khar police, who found that the documents submitted by the accused were fabricated. The accused, identified as Faiz Irfan Adenwala, 36, works in the car-dealing business.
How the case surfaced
According to police, Adenwala had applied for the renewal of an arms licence originally issued in Nagaland. When Nagaland police contacted Khar police for document verification, investigators found that the police clearance certificate and supporting documents submitted by the accused were fake. “The accused used a fake police clearance certificate while renewing an arms licence that had originally been issued in Nagaland. Investigations revealed that he had illegally secured the renewal of the licence in Nagaland on the basis of forged documents,” a police officer said.
