<p>A 23-year-old teacher was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting four girls at a civic-run school in <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/search/vikhroli-articles" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Vikhroli</a>.</p>
<p>"The accused allegedly sexually assaulted four girls, in the age group of six to seven years, at a school run by the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-me-and-mw-wards-to-face-24-hour-water-cut-on-august-24-23305033" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation</a>," the police official said.</p>
<p>According to the police, the matter came to light when a Class 2 student complained about the assault to her parents.</p>
<p>On Tuesday morning, parents of students studying in a school at Tagore Nagar reached out to Vikhroli police station alleging that four girls from the school have been sexually assaulted by a school teacher. A team was immediately sent to the school and a 23-year-old teacher was arrested from the school. The accused has been identified as Saurabh Uchate.&nbsp;</p>
<p>&ldquo;The accused has been appointed in this school as a sports teacher in July 2023, before this he was working in school at Thane. Till now we have received complaints from four parents. The teacher was given charge of students from class 1st to 5th to teach physical education,&rdquo; said an official from Vikhroli police station.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The accused was earlier working with a Thane based school and as per primary investigation, he has sexually assaulted one girl in Thane-based school as well. In a one of the video, the accused has confesssed that he has sexually assaulted a class 2 girl five times before getting appointed in Vikhroli school.</p>
<p>&ldquo;As per the complaint we are in process of registering FIR against the accused. He has confessed his crime and till now we have been approached by parents of four victim girls. The accused will be interrogated further,&rdquo; said DCP (Zone 7) Purushottam Karad.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Vikhroli cops have registered an offence under IPC section 376 (rape) and relevant sections of Prevention of Children from Sexual offences (POCSO) Act. The accused has been arrested and will be produced in court tomorrow.</p><p>
