Mumbai Crime: 31-year-old man arrested for raping woman on pretext of marriage

The accused, identified as Jignesh Shah, was on the run since December 2020, when the FIR was lodged against him.

The Kopar Khairane police arrested a 31-year-old man for raping a woman on the pretext of marriage. The accused, identified as Jignesh Shah, was on the run since December 2020, when the FIR was lodged against him.

According to a complaint filed by a 39-year-old housewife, a resident of Dombivli, Jignesh had sent her a friend request 4 years ago. “After chatting for a brief period, Jignesh expressed his wish to meet her. In July 2017, as there was water-logging across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, the woman told Jignesh to come over to her house and stay overnight,” the complaint read.
