The <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/search/mumbai-crime-branch-articles" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Mumbai Crime Branch</a> Unit 10 has apprehended an accused who had allegedly escaped from the custody of the Sakinaka police.
Identified as Shagun Yadav (20), she was arrested by Sakinaka police for her involvement in a phone robbery, senior police inspector Deepak Sawant said. However, on February 1 she fled from the custody, he said.
The police, in their pursuit, found out that Yadav refrained from using any phone after her escape. To trace her whereabouts, the Crime Branch conducted inquiries with her relatives and examined CCTV footage from various railway stations.
After scrutinizing approximately 60 CCTV recordings from stations such as <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-sex-racket-busted-in-mira-road-23333309" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Ghatkopar</a>, Vidyavihar, and others, the investigators successfully located Yadav near Dadar Railway Station.
&ldquo;We then checked the nearby areas and found her near <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-40-year-old-murdered-by-daughters-admirer-23333314" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Tata Hospital in Parel</a> and detained her and handed over to the Sakinaka police for further investigation,&rdquo; an official said.
The accused faces charges under sections 392 (robbery), 34 (common intention), and 224 (resistance or obstruction by a person in his or her lawful apprehension).
Meanwhile, the Antop Hill police station in Mumbai has filed an Accidental Death Report (ADR) following the alleged suicide of a 36-year-old man identified as Pankaj Keshav on February 4. Keshav, employed in the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), reportedly took his own life by jumping from the 4th floor of Sai Cooperative Housing Society.

According to the police, Keshav had been grappling with mental health issues, experiencing hallucinations and a persistent belief that he was being followed.
The police initiated the ADR case after obtaining statements from the family members of the deceased. The family had reportedly encouraged Keshav to seek treatment at a rehabilitation center due to his mental health conditions.
Unfortunately, he became fearful and opted for the extreme step. The authorities, having found no suspicion of foul play from the family, proceeded to register the case as an Accidental Death Report.
