Mumbai Crime: Man who stole gold jewellery worth Rs 27 lakh from LTT arrested from Karnataka

After scanning CCTV of subsequent halts of Coimbatore Express, cops traced the accused to Kalburgi station and arrested him.

The Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested a 25-year-old Govandi labourer for allegedly stealing a co-passenger's bag containing gold jewellery worth Rs 27 lakh from a platform at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT).

According to a report in Times of India, a GRP crime branch team tracked down accused Hasan Shaikh to Kalburgi in Karnataka after analysing the CCTV footage and ticket-booking records. The incident took place when victim Balaji Devendra and his family, all residents of Sion-Koliwada, were on their way for a wedding on May 3.
