Mumbai Crime: Unidentified woman's body found in suitcase in Nalasopara

Police suspect that victim was strangled to death, a murder case has been registered and investigations are underway.

A dead body of an unknown woman of 25 to 30 years age, was found in a suitcase at Nalasopara east on Sunday night. According to police sources, the bag was spotted near the main road at Shriram Nagar around 10.30 pm on Sunday night. 


Police Inspector Rajendra Kamble of Tulinj Police Station reached the spot after the police were informed and took the body into custody and sent it for autopsy.


The body was in a decomposed condition. It was recovered from a black suitcase. Due to the stench, someone noticed the suitcase and informed the police.


The victim's mouth was tied with a cloth, initial investigations suggest that she was strangled to death, said an officer. 

"We are investigating the case, we need to first establish the identity of the woman and who killed her. We have conducted the punchanama and sent the body for the autopsy and have also send the photos to the various police stations in Palghar district and other police stations in Mumbai and Thane for her identity," said senior inspector Rajendra Kamble of Tulinj police station.

A murder case has been registered in the Tulinj police station and further investigation is going on, added Kamble.
