In a shocking incident in Borivali West, a 29-year-old woman was allegedly sexually assaulted under the Sudhir Phadke Bridge on Monday evening. The complainant, who was on her way to work, was intercepted by a man who dragged her to a secluded spot beneath the bridge and attempted to perform obscene acts.

In a desperate attempt to save herself, the terrified woman handed over her gold ornaments and mobile phone to the accused, following which she managed to escape and rushed to Borivali Police Station to lodge a complaint.

After the case was registered, Zone 11 Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sandeep Jadhav formed a special team and assigned the detection unit to trace the accused. After a night-long search, the Malad Police's Detection Team, led by Sub-inspector Tushar Sukhdev, apprehended the accused within hours and handed him over to Borivali Police.

The police have also recovered the woman’s belongings, including her earrings, gold ring, Realme C53 mobile phone, and headphones, all valued at approximately Rs 52,000.

The accused has been identified as Sanjay Rajput, a resident of Prem Nagar, Dahisar. He reportedly earns his livelihood by washing utensils in hotels and sweeping roads.
