Mumbai Police have detained a man for allegedly barging into a medical store in Mumbai’s Mahim area and threatening a chemist with an air gun over an old dispute, officials said on Tuesday.
The incident occurred on Tuesday morning in the cloth market area of Mahim. The accused, identified as 35-year-old Saurabh Kumar Singh, allegedly entered Plus Medical with his face partially covered with a handkerchief.
According to police, Singh pointed an air gun at the chemist and issued threats inside the shop.
The entire incident was captured in the CCTV installed at the chemist.
Chemist chases accused away
However, the chemist reportedly remained calm and managed to chase the accused out of the medical store. No injuries were reported in the incident.
Old dispute behind act
During the investigation, police found that the accused and the chemist had an earlier dispute. The act was allegedly carried out due to prior enmity, officials said.
Based on the chemist’s complaint, a case has been registered against Singh at Mahim Police Station.
Air gun seized, probe underway
Police later traced the accused and took him into custody. The air gun allegedly used during the incident has also been seized.
Further investigation is underway to verify the sequence of events and establish the exact motive behind the act, police added.
